The program
Spanish on the Road aims to offering an unforgettable experience for adventurous enthusiastic people who want to learn Spanish while getting acquainted with the Latin culture and visiting fantastic places in Costa Rica.

Spanish on the Road is a two-week long program. We focus on high quality academic Spanish learning combined with exciting traveling around the country. This way, you will be able to know our culture from the inside by learning about our customs and traditions as well as our history and our nature.

Learn Spanish in Real Life Situations...

Students registered in the Program will receive the most complete information about Costa Rica . They will meet with native Spanish speakers to practice Spanish in-context.

Spanish learning Day-to-Day Methodology
Students discuss a new topic every day. Learning will be focused on that specific subject that day. It will be developed by following different teaching methods. For example:

“The first Thursday on the first week, the topic will be Rainforest and Biodiversity. Therefore, the students will be actually taken to a rainforest. There, the teacher will provide them with the pertinent vocabulary and information. Then, students will put their Spanish into practice  by doing some field research on Biodiversity in Costa Rica. To get the information, they will have to ask questions, read information, and talk to people in Spanish.

Spanish in the Classroom
During the Program, the students will meet at The Spanish Zone facilities for classes every day. Students will be divided in groups of not more than 4 students to practice the vocabulary related to the topic of the day.

Spanish in Homestay Family
During the week, students will live with a Costa Rican family. They will have their own room, two meals, laundry service, and most importantly, they will have the opportunity to practice their Spanish in a friendly comfortable family environment while learning about the family’s customs and traditions.

Spanish classes on the road
Spanish classes are offered also during the trips to interesting destinations. Every destination was chosen to reflect the daily theme. Spanish teacher is present during all destination except the weekend stays, and is prepared to give you Spanish classes on the road.

Spanish in homestay family
During the week Students are accommodated in native Costa Rican homestay family. Homestay family offer comfortable accommodation, two meals daily and a big opportunity to practice and learning Latin culture and customs.


Spanish Practice and Conversation Practicing Spanish in real life situations is the main advantage of Spanish on the Road.

Spanish classes continue during the trip and through the day. The Spanish teacher has prepared many activities for the students. Students are asked to do some research on the road. They are given several questions that they have to ask to native speakers. This activity is intended to holistically develop the student's listening, reading, and speaking skills.

For example:

  • Who is "La Negrita"?
  • Why is she so important for Costa Ricans?
  • When was the last big explosion of a volcano in Costa Rica?
  • What is the perfect altitude for coffee growing?

 

 

Travel
Spanish on the Road is supported by our partner "Huellas de Costa Rica". This travel agency is in charge of the traveling arrangements and transportation. It offers a specialized travel guide. Students will travel air-conditioned mini buses. A licensed tour guide will travel with the group on weekdays. He/she will be available for weekend stays.
