Visit to the Irazu Volcano
Very early in the morning, we will travel to the Irazu Volcano, the highest volcano in Costa Rica. We will leave from the school on a bus provided by our travel associate. A licensed tour guide will travel with us.
In the morning, the volcano's top is usually cloudless and you can enjoy a spectacular view of Central Valley. In perfect weather conditions, you can also see the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean from there. Irazu Volcano is a national park. It covers 5 705 acres (2309 hectares. Its highest point is approximately 10,300 feet above sea level.
At the Park: Field Practice...
After a 90-minute trip through small towns and beautiful mountains, we will arrive to one of the highest places in Costa Rica. First, we will tour the park. Then, the teacher will give the students a handout with questions about the park. They will have to look for the answers by talking to Spanish-speaking visitors, park rangers, or by reading the information signs around the park
Typical Food Lunch
Once the field practice has concluded, the tour guide will take us to Cartago's downtown where we will go to typical- food restaurant for lunch. There, the teacher will give you information about some of characteristics of traditional Costa Rican cuisine so that you can choose what to have for lunch. Since this is a typical-food restaurant, food is served on plates covered with banana leaves...
   Visit of the Basil of Cartago. Practice in the field.
Our teacher will explain you the importance of Cartago city in respect of the history of Costa Rica, and you will visit the Basil of Cartago. Teachers has a many questions to investigate by yourself prepared, and you have to get to know by communication with people Who was ¨La Negrita¨
After visiting the basil, the guide will show you the historical ruins and take you back to the school.
